Area America Online Longer Available. In these budget-conscious times, cost might be more of a factor when shopping for athletic shoes,

Before the economic slowdown, marathon runner Susie Smisek would drop up to $90 on a pair of running shoes several times a year without much thought. “Now I might wait a little longer to see if they will go on sale, and maybe I’ll go another month before I buy to replace them,” said Smisek, a nurse. Even so, the 48-year-old Omahan still is willing to spend $75 or more to get a quality, proper-fitting running shoe.

“My feeling is that your feet are your foundation. You can’t skimp there,” said Smisek, who serves as director for the Omaha Marathon. In these budget-conscious times, cost might be more of a factor when shopping for athletic shoes, but consumers should be aware that price isn’t everything, say a leading manufacturer, retailers, athletes, a coach and a top consumer group.

Night Champions 2009 Results. Tour de France 2009: Jens Voigt suffers horrific crash

Voigt’s abandonment means 161 riders are left in this year’s Tour field. “I only saw him after the crash and he looked very, very bad,” said team boss Bjarne Riis, a former Tour de France winner. “It’s not nice to lose a rider like this, but these are things which happen in a race and you have to accept them. ” Official race doctor Gerard Porte said: “He lost consciousness for three to four minutes.

I am just concerned with Jens’ health right now.” Voigt – a team-mate of Andy Schleck – has had poor luck on the Tour recently after a flat tyre cost him the chance to stay with a breakaway group during stage 14. The 37-year-old suffered a back-wheel puncture at the 57km mark and despite receiving a new wheel from the neutral spares car, he lost his place in a 13-man escape which included eventual stage winner Sergei Ivanov of Katusha. Voigt is the second rider Saxo Bank have lost inside a week.

Blue. The Inside Pitch: Rays stage historic rally against Jays

The Rays capped the biggest comeback in team history when Jason Bartlett hit an RBI double in the 12th inning to beat the home Blue Jays 10-9. Down 8-0 after four, the Rays cut it to 9-7 heading into the ninth against closer Scott Downs. The AL champions tied it on solo homers by Carlos Pena and Willy Aybar. Aramis Ramirez hit his second homer in two days to lift the Cubs past the visiting Reds 5-3 for their ninth victory in 12 games.

Alfonso Soriano and Milton Bradley added solo shots to back a strong start by Kevin Hart (2-1) and send the Reds to their fifth straight loss. After the Tigers sent the game into extra innings with a ninth-inning rally, Carlos Guillen’s RBI single in the 10th gave Detroit a 4-3 home victory over the White Sox. Clete Thomas led off the 10th with a single off D.J. Carrasco (3-1) and went to second on Miguel Cabrera’s base hit.

Ancient. Rock Candy: Geek out on the ’80s, ghosts, says the Televisionist

Ah, the 1980s. It was a simpler time, wasn’t it? A pair of acid-washed jeans on every butt, a synthesizer in every song and a semi-lucid geriatric with his finger on the nuclear button in the White House. Nothing like the good old days. Given that this writer grew up in the age of big hair and Wham!, it’s no surprise that I’ve got a soft spot for the movies of that era.

It was kind of a golden age: After all the dreary realism and big mustaches of 1970s cinema, but before all the hyper-violence and Will Smithification of the 1990 flicks. Well, get on your leg warmers and break out that six-pack of New Coke you’ve got hoarded in the basement, kiddies, because TCM is offering up this three-fer of 1980s teen flicks. First up is 1984’s “Karate Kid.

And likewise, community college systems around the country are stretched to the bursting point to accommodate laid-.

State projections show that 15,000 students will enroll in Washington’s community college retraining programs starting this fall, more than double the head count from two years ago. In Snohomish County, hundreds more than last year will enroll in retraining. And likewise, community college systems around the country are stretched to the bursting point to accommodate laid-off workers wanting to reinvent themselves while the economy mends. Some have money from the state for retraining. Others have headed back to colleges, universities and technical schools on their own dime, looking at training or a degree as an investment that could help pave a path back to where they once were – or to an even better place.

They’re older than the general student population. Two out of three students getting retraining in Washington have already turned 35. And some say they’re a little more streetwise, too.

Banita Jacks Trial Gets Underway

WASHINGTON, DC (WUSA) — The trial of the DC mother accused of killing her four daughters is now officially underway. Attorneys for Banita Jacks had tried to convince a judge not to allow an eight hour interrogation tape into evidence. After two days of listening to them, Judge Frederick Weisberg denied the motion and the opening arguments were heard. Defense Attorney Llloyd Nolan says there is no physical evidence, and no scientific evidence that shows Banita Jacks killed her children in their rowhouse on 6th Street in Southeast.

They only have stories from witnesses who didn’t see anything. But prosecutor Deborah Sines says the bodies of the four little girls will speak for them. Four different medical experts will lay out a timelines of the killings, which prosecutors says started with Brittany. Jacks had claimed she was the last to die. Prosecutor Sines says they’ll show that Brittany was last seen alive in April of 2007, after her boyfriend came to visit, which angered Jacks.

There is no need to try extra hard to find online the cache version of Erin Andrews peephole video for download. Today, the internet population has been obsessed with the Erin Andrews video, but wherever you go there is not even a cached version. However, a lawyer says she will sue and take legal action to defend herself. According to “a lawyer for the popular ESPN sideline reporter says that she was unwittingly videotaped through a peephole in a hotel room without her consent and that she intends to take legal action against the still unknown perpetrators.

” The video, which was later posted on the Internet, showed a woman without clothes. Reports say the initial video posting made no direct reference to Erin Andrews being that woman, but her attorney later confirmed it. “While alone in the privacy of her hotel room, Erin Andrews was surreptitiously videotaped without her knowledge or consent,” Andrews’ attorney, Marshall B.
